Third choice was AZURE 94. [3]

Baron Niall McKennett and I have AFPOPA on ours, which stands for "Another

Fine Product of Ponte Alto, one of Ponte Alto's "mottoes." Our neighboring

Baron of Storvik has MORITU on his license plate.

We have found that the Commonwealth of Virginia will produce a special plate

with a imprinted logo for organizations (many college alumni associations

have this done) if presented with a petition of 300 or more names. Efforts

are underway to get a petition to the Commonwealth (we got more than 100

signatures at the first event the petition was brought out) for a SCA/

Atlantia plate.

In the Middle, I have seen the following plates:

Sir Bardolph Windlaufer I thinks has 2 SWORD as his

license plate.

Finn Jarl Herjolfson has JARL

Master Carlo and Mistress Myrra have PEERSX2.

(they're both double peers)

Maestra Ghita has GHITA

Apparently, vanity plates in Illinois are also real

cheap.

Now, what's really fun is to watch incoming cars at

Pennsic just to see the vanity plates. The parking

lot is full of vanity plates!

There's also Countess Leonora Morgana's (DECORUM), and Dorothy's (from

SunDragon in Atenveldt):  SAK OZ (she _really_ dislikes her modern name).

And then there's mine (M GILES).  It constantly amazes me that words that

are perfectly innocuous at a Society event (It means "Master Giles")

suddenly take on a whole new meaning in the parking lot of a gay bar.

I really prefer the text on my license plate holder:

"WELCOME TO CAID... NOW GET DRESSED."

I've had Virginia tags reading SWRD JCK for about 7 years now. Last I

looked, the Virginia KSCA tag belonged to Sir Kenneqrae of Gilchrest.

There's also a fair pile of SCA-99 tags (VA standard tags are either

XXX-999 or XXX-9999).

I wanted something with a broader scope for my vanity plate and came up with

MDVL  AGE.  It was really obvious to me what this stood for but it has been a

hoot to watch grown people stare and try to silently mouth what this stands

for.  They usually start with something along middle or medical but then can't

figure out the "V" and will finally ask me which then leads into a whole other

discussion :)

Designs. It's also an old nickname -- firstly because I'm a Leo, and also

because I tend to fiercely defend those I hold dear.)

It was always amusing when someone would try to read something into the

"1" substituting for the "I" (or "Y") -- one or two folks asked just how

much I loved tennis. :-)  (I guess they saw L - 10 - ness <shrug>)

I had, once, JGOSH, not really medieval looking, or sounding, but it was the first letters of my SCA name.

For the past 12 years I've had: BLKDUKE (not enough letters for the full spelling of black).

Among my travels I look for vanity plates--it keeps me amused and alert, soI've

also seen HORDE; MONGOL; PAGAN1; SWORDS (the guy's name is Swords); ILUVPIKE (in

the  Wisconson, Minnesota area)--I'm not sure it had the U as my scrawl on the

piece of paper is faint & illegible these days).

KSCA--he was.

RNDTBL--guy owned a Round Table Pizza.

POKEME--but I'm not sure what they really meant with that one...

and others which had their SCA name also on their vehicle:

XENA--many years before the current series;

Someone mentioned a story about the show Knightrider and the vanity plate

KNIGHT...

A search of the "environmental plate" database reveals 44 plates with the word

Knight on them:

AKNIGHT     BKNIGHT     CKNIGHT     DKNIGHT     EKNIGHT     FKNIGHT     GKNIGHT

HKNIGHT     JKNIGHT     KKNIGHT     KNIGHT     KNIGHTA     KNIGHTB

KNIGHTC     KNIGHTG     KNIGHTJ     KNIGHTK     KNIGHTM     KNIGHTN     KNIGHTQ

KNIGHTR     KNIGHTS     KNIGHTV     KNIGHTW     KNIGHTX     KNIGHTY

KNIGHT1     KNIGHT2     KNIGHT4     KNIGHT5     KNIGHT6     KNIGHT7     LKNIGHT

OKNIGHT     PKNIGHT     TKNIGHT     VKNIGHT     WKNIGHT     ZKNIGHT

1KNIGHT     2KNIGHT     4KNIGHT     7KNIGHT     9KNIGHT

So someone in either Caid or the West does have the license plate KNIGHT.

(You can look up KSCA etc. the same way.  www.dmv.ca.gov, "Special interest

license plates" or something like that, then "search the elp database" or

therabouts.)
