Although those Peerage circles would be HUGE! :) Up in what was the Principality of Artemisia (now the Kingdom of Artemesia) they use to hold combined Peer circles quite often. Usually during the reigns of Brian and Anna. Yes, they were huge, and in my opinion rather unwieldy. I don't know if they still do them up there or not. Just another anthropological difference between Kingdoms :) Petruccio Date: Tue, 28 Sep 2004 18:46:25 -0600 From: Sue Clemenger Subject: Re: [Sca-cooks] Pickled or no? - To: Cooks within the SCA Susan Fox-Davis wrote: > Around here, It's not an Official Meal until Selene has spilled food on > her chest. (for the vast majority of you out there who are NOT from my home kingdom, I'm referring to an odd bit in our Sumptuary Customs that details who can wear what kind of display of arms on their cloaks/mantles. It says that the respective orders above are allowed these special cloaks with those special borders...the sheer idea of green fur made me want to just shudder. or barf. or both.) --maire, old, used non-foodie laurel Date: Wed, 24 Aug 2005 22:20:20 -0600 From: Sue Clemenger Subject: Re: [Sca-cooks] Tiki Torch Recall To: Cooks within the SCA Laura C. There's an annual torchlight great sword tourney at Uprising every June. Uprising, for you non-Artemisians, is the largest annual event in the kingdom. The tourney always seems to run (at least in my memory) as a fundraiser--individual fighters are auctioned off, and the winner gets a prize. Enormous fun to watch, especially when you've got a couple of really talented people in the eric. We have fire restrictions to deal with as well, but the degree of stricture varies from year to year, and generally is most stringent later in the summer (mid-July onwards through early fall). --maire, who could actually *see* the hills surrounding town tonight! and breathe without inhaling wood smoke! Ah, the joy! ;-D (I'm only partly kidding...it's been pretty smoky here this summer, although not as bad as 2000 or 2003.) Edited by Mark S. Harris Artem-hist-msg Page 3 of 4
