This file is a collection of various messages having a common theme that I have collected from my reading of the various computer networks. Some messages date back to 1989, some may be as recent as yesterday.

I recall one source talking about it that explained that it was thought

that a child was influenced by the quality of the milk -- not the

nutrition, but the knowledge and associates of the wet nurse.  So only

wholesome companions and pursuits were to be encouraged for wet nurses.

There are books on the history of wet nurses.

 

        Wet nursing : a history from antiquity to the present / Valerie Fildes. Published/Created:      Oxford ; New York : Basil Blackwell, 1988.

 

There are a number of others. The subject gets tied into breast feeding books, so it's hard to sort out the history from the "how to" books.
